Cheap piece of junk. The top part that screws on the water tank broke, on my third use!!! I wanted to like this thing, because the price is nice, and I don't make that much coffee. But come on, it broke after only three uses. Lame-o!

I'm a smart shopper and this thing completely fooled me. I have no idea who rated this machine as great, because it's a HUGE rip-off. The steam for cappuccino doesn't work at all and the machine drips all around the grounds holder when brewing. It created a huge mess for two different people who tried using it. Both of us have experience with espresso machines, so that's not the issue. Looked like it was going to explode while brewing, spewing steam from every direction and dripping a huge mess. DON'T waste your time or money you think you're saving. It's a piece of trash.

beware the fickle steamer...

I bought this little unit on the basis of positive reviews and indeed, I was impressed with it. But after only 6 months, the steamer stopped working and of course there's no way to fix it...it's not much fun having a latte maker without the capacity to make steamed milk...ah well, on to a more expensive, hopefully more reliable machine. Recommendations are welcome...

Decent espresso but poorly designed

I agree with other people's reviews that this machine makes a nice cup of espresso but I am less than impressed with the overall design. The filter handle points in the direction of the steamer, making it extremely difficult to steam you milk. The steamer wand is also very low, so it's hard to use a larger pitcher to froth your milk for lattes. The machine also makes you steam your milk IN BETWEEN making the espresso... so you have to sit there and wait for a few minutes for half the amount to brew, turn the control knob to steam (which is on the other side of the machine and not so easy to turn left handed), steam and froth your milk and then turn the knob back to brew (WHILE holding the steaming hot milk so you don't burn yourself with either the liquid or the wand)....then wait another minute or two for the brew cycle to complete... HOPING that you didn't use too much water/steam for your milk and have enough left over for an accurate pour. I'm not sure about other designs but that seems like a lot of unnecessary steps and a lot of standing by your machine and waiting. I dunno. Espresso is decent enough but I am definitely upgrading to a less-of-a-hassle machine as soon as I can.
